The DoFE Award has really added value and helped to sharpen up my skills. I joined the Award in the year 2008 through the Girls' Brigade -Ghana Centre. This was actually for my silver level and in the year 2009, i did my gold level. I did it with so much joy because for the first time in my life, i was getting to know how to take responsibility for myself. I made new friends and also built my confidence level. I learnt how to work in teams. I also learnt how to read and navigate the map... I must also admit that it was at this expedition that i met the love of my life... The Award really challenged me whereby I really got to know who i really was and am . I also got to know what i can really do as a young person.
In 2010, i teamed up with one of my friends and we had a project to support the needy in our society. With the help of the MDGs which gave us a guide on areas that we can consider. We helped them by eradicating poverty by collecting new clothes from benevolent people within our society. We also vacated from the comfort of our homes to stay with them to help educate the younger ones in the classroom by teaching them. This is where I discovered that i am very good with this profession . I would say that the Award has built this passion to teach within me by which i am currently a proud teacher, impacting knowledge into younger minds. This YES project also taught me to protect our environment at all times by planting trees. As humans , we need fresh air (oxygen) to help boost our health system. This project was selected as one of the Peter Cruddas Social innovative projects around the globe, where i was invited to dine with the Earl Of Wessex, HRH Prince Edward at the Buckingham Palace. This is an experience that i can never forget. I say thank you to The Founder of the Award for giving me this great platform and exposure to learn as much as I can.
