NURTURING THE CREATIVITY, PASSION AND CRITICAL THINKING IN EVERY CHILD IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF A TEACHER.
It was in the month of April-2021, Our team of IAYP students were in their VIRTUAL BRONZE EXPLORATION journey. One of the activities mentioned was meal challenge. I along with my team of students had a meeting on how go about to complete this challenge. There were many hurdles such as not able to go out for shopping groceries, not having enough ingredients at home etc. But this did not stop us form completing the challenge. Students were much excited and came up with wonderful ideas of creating new dishes. There were inputs about nutrition and balanced diet. Students discussed about smart ways of cooking due to which less fuel is consumed, and also leads to less carbon foot print and Greenhouse gas emissions. This discussion with students was an inspiration. I felt that, I should not just be a person talking but a person of action. I wanted to surprise my group of students. I wore a cooking apron and head cap, made a veg sandwich with vegetables containing balanced amount of Carbs, proteins, fats, vitamins and other essential nutrients.
It was the moment of excitement when my group of students saw me in this cooking attire. They were surprised to see me participating and behaving the same enthusiastic way as they do. The virtual dinner together was filled with fun, jokes and humorous conversation. My heart was filled with immense happiness as I saw my students having food and fun together. For some time, I forgot that I am an award leader and mingled with my students as one of them. We felt that we were far apart only by distance, but out hearts were together believing that we were one IAYP team.
I wish to convey my heartfelt thanks to IAYP - THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH'S INTERNATIONAL AWARD for planning beautiful tasks in VBE, which builds and nurtures creativity, passion and critical thinking in these young minds. no pandemic can stop their creativity
