I was lucky enough to hold all 3 of the Awards. Even luckier in 1982 to attend the Palace and meet the Duke of Edinburgh.
I was in Wales group 4 and there we were in our semi circle. Being tall I was at the back. He looked me in the eye and asked 'Where did you do your expedition" Excited that the Duke had spoken to me proudly I replied "Snowdonia, Sir" same question to one of the others and he got the same reply. He turned back to me with a twinkle in his eye and commented "Bloody crowded place then" Giggles ensued.
Later during my working life as a Police Officer I guarded the Royal Train when he was aboard. Thank you Sir.
