My memories of completing activities towards the award are thoroughly enjoyable and happy ones. Hiking in Dartmoor and experiencing rain, hail, snow, cloud and sunshine all in 48 hours have remained with me. Meeting Prince Philip to receive the award at St James Palace was a very special moment. I am in a privileged position to have completed the Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards. I have also been an Award Leader and supporting students to complete the Award is rewarding. Finally I am a parent of a child participating in the Award. Watching my daughter showing perseverance and commitment reassures me that she will cope with whatever life throws at her. My participation in the award in all three roles gives me an understanding of the value of the Award and a great appreciation of Prince Philip's vision.
